Ned calls Blake a "Gamer"
"Casey Blake is a gamer," Dodgers GM Ned Colletti said. "His experience and character will be a plus as we head down the stretch in the final two months of the regular season."
But can he play baseball?

Randy Johnson is Ugly
I write for a blog. It's immature. It's fairly funny. I know people here, especially Grant, love to make fun of how ugly Randy Johnson is. I wrote about it yesterday.

Happy VDay Bamm-Bamm

I would like to take this opportunity to declare my man-crush on Patrick Willis. I love you Patrick, and I think you're the best. I hope you anchor the 49ers defense for many years to come. Even if we suck, at least I'll get to watch you wreak havoc across the field and set records for total tackles. Happy Valentine's Day Patrick!
Open declare your man-crush on your favorite 49er thread. Have at it boys.

OT: Fun with photoshop / link dump
Since I have something that would go in a link dump, and there isn't one up, I'll make one. I'm pretty proud of my latest photoshop creation so I thought I'd share with all of you what I did. My friend writes a blog and needed a fill in today so I wrote his post and made a nice little picture to go with it. Here's the link.
Also, Maiocco has an interview with Marshall Faulk about Mike Martz and says we offered a contract to Shaun Hill today.

49ers - Rams: Dilfer starting Sunday
[EDITOR'S NOTE 1:20PM] - I picked this up from the diary section and removed the part saying "Give up now." My own opinion issue is that I'd rather Smith not further aggravate the injury during a lost season. I don't think he should necessarily be shut down for the season, but wait until both he AND Nolan are 100% sure he's ready to return. If he misses the rest of the season, so be it. If this injury has caused some or most of his accuracy issues, sit him down for now. If this team was 7-2 maybe things would be different, but they're not. Let's contain Alex Smith/Trent Dilfer comments to THIS thread if at all possible. This would include the trust issues between Smith and Nolan and anything similar. Thanks.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Crap.
I don't have much else to say but I need to fill 300 characters so I will say this: Crap. Smith is bad, Dilfer is worse. Not that we had any chance to win another game all season, but with Old Man Dilf at the helm, we'll be lucky to match the, what? six first downs we had on Monday. I might decide to not even watch.

Former 49ers Head Coach Dick Nolan Passes Away

[EDITOR'S UPDATE - 10:00PM]
Denise and John York on Dick Nolan's passing:
"The San Francisco 49ers organization is mourning the loss of one of our legends with the passing of Dick Nolan. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Nolan family and all those that loved and supported him.
His influence was far-reaching. He was a major part of the pantheon of great men who helped create the 49ers outstanding winning tradition, capturing three-straight NFC West titles in the 1970s.
Dick’s love of football came second only to family, and those values persevere as his son Mike continues to carry on the legacy of his father both on the field and off the field. It is only fitting that both Mike and his father were hired by the 49ers on the same day. Dick was hired on January 19, 1968 and Mike 37 years later on January 19, 2005.
The greatest honor we can give Dick is to have Mike carry on the same tradition that his father established during his tenure with the 49ers."
EDITOR'S UPDATE 7:30PM - So I was going to post something about Dick Nolan, but to be perfectly honest, his 49ers coaching career wrapped up before I was even born, so my only memories are when I read about Mike Nolan talking about his dad. So, for now, I'm just going to leave this thread here and let people use it to share any memories if you were around back then, or just to pay your respects.
EDITOR'S NOTE 6:55PM - Thanks to wjackalope for getting this up. I'll put together a little something tonight or tomorrow with my own thoughts. Our thoughts are certainly with Mike Nolan.
Dick Nolan passed away today. We'll see if Mike Nolan will still be coaching tomorrow or if Singletary will be in charge.
